- MY ART HISTORY: I was trained as a professional illustrator, a graduate of Rocky Mountain College of Art, in Denver, Colorado, and The Academy of Art University in San Francisco, California. I began working freelance while still in school. Some of my clients were "Learning Magazine," Mexicana Airlines, Sesame Street, The Electric Company and various publishing houses. In Atlanta, in the mid 1970s, I worked for a design firm, and I also freelanced, creating illustrations for "Atlanta Magazine," "The Atlanta Journal Constitution," and others. In 1978, two partners and I opened The American Illustrators Gallery at Colony Square in Atlanta. We represented the works of both contemporary and past illustrators, and we brokered paintings by American Impressionists. We three also founded the Atlanta chapter of the Graphic Artists Guild. I began teaching at The Heritage School in 1992. I spent my first ten years pushing a cart loaded with supplies. Happily, I have my own classroom now. I am proud to offer a unique curriculum that I have honed over time. The program is purposefully structured to prepare my students for progressively higher level work as they grow.
